General Dentistry in Pittsboro, IN

General Services

Ideally, most general dentistry is preventative. Visiting your dentist regularly – at least once every six months – ensures proper oral hygiene and functionality. Regular checkups prevent the development of serious dental problems that may require costly treatment. Frequent visits to your dentist will allow for exceptional dental health.

We will work with you to develop a customized dental hygiene plan that includes a dental examination, tooth cleaning, X-ray and use of other diagnostic equipment to prevent, discover or treat problems as early as possible.

We may incorporate a variety of restorative procedures in the development of your treatment plan that will help prevent decay or disease of your teeth, mouth, gums and tongue. We also use restorative dentistry procedures to repair the effects of tooth decay, trauma, or disease in these areas of the mouth.

Routine Exams and Cleanings

Regular dental checkups and cleanings are the foundation of a healthy smile. During a routine exam, we carefully evaluate your teeth, gums, and overall oral health checking for early signs of cavities, gum disease, and other concerns before they become bigger problems. Our professional cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup that brushing and flossing can’t reach, helping to prevent tooth decay and maintain fresh breath.

These visits are quick, comfortable, and essential to keeping your smile looking and feeling its best year-round. By staying consistent with your dental visits, you're making a smart investment in both your oral and overall health.

Dental Fillings

Cavities are one of the most common dental issues—but fortunately, they’re also one of the easiest to treat. Dental fillings are used to restore areas of a tooth that have been damaged by decay, helping to stop the spread and prevent further damage.

At Pittsboro Family Dentistry, we use tooth-colored composite fillings that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, offering both durability and a natural appearance.

The process is quick and comfortable, and it allows you to preserve more of your natural tooth structure. With proper care, your filling can last for many years, keeping your smile healthy and functional.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a preventive option designed to help protect teeth from cavities, especially in the deep grooves of the back molars where brushing might not reach effectively. Sealants are typically applied as a thin, protective coating that acts as a barrier against plaque and food particles.

While often recommended for children, adults with deep or vulnerable grooves in their teeth may also benefit from sealants.

The application process is simple, painless, and can help support long-term oral health when combined with routine brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits.

Gum Disease Treatment

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease is a common condition that affects the tissues surrounding your teeth. It often begins with mild symptoms like bleeding gums or bad breath, but if left untreated, it can lead to gum recession, bone loss, and even tooth loss. Fortunately, when detected early, gum disease can be managed and often reversed with professional care.

Treatment may involve deeper cleanings, improved at-home hygiene, or other in-office procedures to remove bacteria and promote healing. Maintaining healthy gums is essential to your overall oral health and can help preserve your natural teeth for years to come.

Tooth Extractions

While preserving your natural teeth is always the goal, there are times when a tooth extraction is the healthiest option. Whether due to severe decay, infection, crowding, or trauma, removing a tooth can help prevent further complications and support your long-term oral health.

Our team takes a careful and compassionate approach to ensure the extraction process is as comfortable as possible. We’ll walk you through each step, discuss your options for tooth replacement if needed, and make sure you’re well cared for before, during, and after the procedure.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last set of teeth to emerge typically during the late teens or early twenties. For many people, these teeth can become impacted, crowd surrounding teeth, or lead to pain and infection. In these cases, removing the wisdom teeth is often the best choice to protect your oral health and prevent future complications.

Wisdom tooth removal is a common procedure, and our team focuses on making the process as smooth and comfortable as possible. We’ll evaluate your situation with a thorough exam and recommend the best course of action for your specific needs.

Root Canal Treatment

When the inside of a tooth becomes infected or severely decayed, root canal treatment can help save it from extraction. This procedure involves removing the damaged pulp, cleaning the inner chamber of the tooth, and sealing it to prevent further infection. Despite its reputation, a root canal is a routine treatment that can relieve pain and restore the function of your tooth.

Modern techniques make the process more comfortable than ever, and most patients return to normal activities shortly after the procedure. Preserving your natural tooth also helps maintain proper chewing function and jaw alignment.
